The Shrike 2 RC ornithopter......one great little bird!
Much like a mini version of the Park Hawk 4, the new Shrike 2 is smaller in size and offers high power to weight ratio, enhanced maneuverability and control, and ease of transport. The Shrike can transport easily to the flying field in a front car seat and has all the latest refinements of our other ornithopter kits. Great for flying at parks or at an empty soccer field, the Shrike is pure fun in the sky. It's size and wing flapping rate resembles a small falcon! We found the Shrike to out handle the Park Hawk when it came to wind gusts and negotiating smaller flying areas.
~ 35" wingspan. ~ 20.5" overall length. ~ 240 sq.in.wing area. ~ 10 oz. flying weight. Comes with high Kv brushless outrunner motor.
The Shrike is a CAD designed, CNC manufactured, RC ornithopter and is the "bird of prey" style version of the SunBird series of "mini-ornithopter" first released in 2003.
As with all other Kinkade ornithopters the Shrike has been completely revised and refined to include improved design features as standard such as a sleeker yet sturdier G-10 fuselage, ball bearing wing hinges, heavier duty gearbox bearings, a new velcro battery mount, a universal motor mount, and a new elastomer "downstroke assist".
The Shrike comes with the standard Kinkade "glide-loc" device so it can alternate between flapping and gliding at your command. The tail assembly comes standard with shock mounted O-ring attachments that greatly reduce the risk of servo damage. Wingsail and tail are made from top quality zero porosity, UV resistant, polycarbonate coated rip-stop fabric and dacron. Kit features solid carbon fiber wing spars with new G-10 ferrules, Delrin and steel gears, precision CNC machined aluminum components, large choice of sailcloth colors, high efficiency design for flights up to 15 minutes.
Kit is almost ready to fly ( ARF) and assembles in one evening with basic hand tools. No gluing required. Only blue Loc-tite for securing screws on flapping mechanism. Requires soldering for motor connections. Requires 2 or 3 cell lithium polymer battery. For 3 channels: rudder, elevator, and motor control. Hand launched.
The Shrike was engineered to be a small, easy to fly, consistent performing RC ornithopter with new value added features.
It comes with a 90 day warranty.
